For decades after World War II, while the increas­ing­ly cor­rupt Chris­t­ian Democ­rats held nation­al office in Italy, the Bolog­nese chose com­mu­nists to lead their local gov­ern­ment. For Bologna it was a hap­py choice. The city known as “Red Bologna” pros­pered. This is a col­lec­tion of images of Bologna that reflect its rather gen­tle, slight­ly crum­bling orangish-red.
